Technaflora and Bloom
Technaflora’s range matched up against Bloom’s, job by job. A lot of it sits close to ours, kelp especially. Here’s where the two ranges overlap and where Bloom adds something new.

This Fit Report is a summary of publicly available information about Technaflora and its products, taken from their own website, labels and published material as of 5 November 2026. We’ve linked each source so you can check it yourself. Rates are as printed on each company’s own pages; we don’t show prices. It isn’t affiliated with, endorsed by or approved by Technaflora, and product names belong to their owners. Products, rates and claims change, so please confirm current details with the manufacturer before making any decision. Spotted something out of date? Email nathan@bloomyellowbottles.com and we’ll correct it.
Plenty of kelp on both sides, so look at what’s not there.
Technaflora leans hard on kelp: Thrive Alive, B. Seaweed and Soluble Seaweed Extract are all seaweed-based, and Pura Vida has three kelps in it. What their product list doesn’t carry is humic acid, a fish input, sea minerals or silica. Those are the weekly Bloom bottles that slot straight into a Technaflora program.
- Stays as is: the B.C. three-part base or Pura Vida, Rootech Cloning Gel, pH Up and pH Down.
- Both have one: kelp tonics, cal-mag, a root supplement, a sugar-type additive and a flower booster.
- Not on their list: humic acid, tuna, sea minerals, silica and stage additives for veg, the flip and the finish.
Technaflora and Bloom in short
The B.C. base or Pura Vida, Rootech Cloning Gel, pH Up and pH Down.
Their kelp tonics, MagiCal, SugarDaddy, Awesome Blossoms and Root 66 each sit near a Bloom product.
Humate, Sea Minerals, Seafuel, Silica, and the Pre, Ultra and Final stage additives.
Their line, Bloom’s fit at a glance
Matched on job, not NPK. Technaflora’s product pages don’t print rates (they point to the label and their recipe calculator), so their side shows analysis only. Tap a tag to filter.
Keep your base. Bloom’s additives go in on top of it.
Their plant-material base stays. Bloom’s weekly additives run alongside it.
Gel at the cut stays. Roots can follow in the weekly feed once cuttings are in (our read).
Bloom doesn’t make pH adjusters, so these stay.
Both are kelp tonics. Theirs blends three kelps plus B1; Seaweed is southern bull kelp. Run one, or test them side by side.
Same job, different kelp species. Pick the one that suits your room.
Both are calcium and magnesium. MagiCal lists iron; Bloom’s lists iron and zinc. Pick one.
Both put a sugar source in the tank. SugarDaddy carries magnesium and sulfur; SWTNR carries potassium.
Both push P and K in flower. Plan the stack, or pick one.
Both are root supplements. Root 66 is aimed at transplant; Roots runs from cuttings through flower.
10% humic acid, plus trace minerals from sea water.
Tuna and kelp, clone through late flower, tapering at the flush.
Potassium silicate, labelled 0-0-4, veg through early flower.
One for mid veg, one for the flip, one for the last two weeks.
Put it side by side
Where both ranges have a product for the same job, the fair answer is a test in your own room. Here’s what to watch and how to keep it fair.
Keeping it fair
- Same plants. Clones off the same mother, same cultivar, same age.
- Same room. Same light, climate, media, pot size and watering.
- Same base. Keep the base feed and EC the same on both sides.
- One change. Change only the product being tested, and write down what you see each week.
Why each one fits
What the Bloom product does, the research behind that kind of input, and where it sits in a program that already runs.
Humic acid and sea minerals
What it does. Humate is 10% humic acid at 2.5 ml/L weekly, seedling through flush. Sea Minerals is trace minerals from sea water at 0.13 ml/L weekly, veg to bloom.
A major review links humic substances to changes in root structure and function tied to nutrient uptake, including more lateral roots. It doesn’t test either company’s products.
How it stacks. Small doses on top of the B.C. base or Pura Vida. B.C. Grow and Bloom already carry micros, so Sea Minerals adds to them rather than standing in for them (our read).
Tuna on top of their kelp
What it does. Seafuel is tuna and kelp at 1 ml/L weekly, clone through late flower, tapering at the flush.
Work on protein hydrolysates, the group fish inputs belong to, is newer. A 2023 review links them to nutrient uptake and stress response, mostly in trials under stress. It doesn’t test these bottles or cannabis.
How it stacks. Technaflora already brings plenty of kelp. Seafuel adds the fish side, and goes in after the base (our read: check runoff when you add anything).
Silica, added first
What it does. Silica is potassium silicate, labelled 0-0-4, at 0.33 ml/L weekly. It goes into the water first, veg through early flower, tapering in late bloom. It’s a mixing-order bottle, so there’s no study cited for it here.
How it stacks. Add it to plain water before the B.C. parts or Pura Vida, then the rest (our read: that’s the usual order for any silicate).
One bottle per stage
What it does. Pre in mid veg (weeks 2–3), Ultra at the flip (flower weeks 1–2), Final for the last two weeks including the flush, alongside Ooze. 1 ml/L each, weekly. These are timing tools, so there’s no study cited for them here.
How it stacks. Technaflora’s calculator steps through cutting, transplant, veg, flower and pre-harvest. These drop into those same stages without touching the base plan (our read).
Where each bottle sits in the cycle
Technaflora’s timing in grey, Bloom’s in yellow, across shared stages of the grow.

Timing comes from each Technaflora product page. Thrive Alive is a drench at cuttings and a foliar through veg into the first week of flower. SugarDaddy’s page says every growth stage. Awesome Blossoms is listed for flower production with no set weeks, so it’s pale (our read). MagiCal and the kelp products list no stage, so they’re left off. Bloom’s bars follow its weekly feed charts; pale Bloom bars are as-needed bottles.
Where the programs complement each other
Their base and kelp, Bloom’s humic and minerals
Technaflora’s list has no humic, fish, sea-mineral or silica product. Humate, Seafuel, Sea Minerals and Silica go in at 0.13–2.5 ml/L weekly over the B.C. base or Pura Vida.
Stage additives inside their calculator stages
Their recipe calculator runs cutting to pre-harvest. Pre, Ultra and Final each add one bottle at mid veg, the flip and the finish, without changing the base.
Kelp and cal-mag, tested in your room
Both ranges have kelp tonics, cal-mag and a root supplement. These are the fair spots to run one against the other, same room, same base (our read).
Already covered
- Base feed. The B.C. three-part base, or Pura Vida Grow and Bloom.
- Kelp. Thrive Alive Red and Green, B. Seaweed and Soluble Seaweed Extract.
- Calcium, magnesium and sugars. MagiCal and SugarDaddy.
- Roots, flowers and pH. Rootech, Root 66, Awesome Blossoms, pH Up and pH Down.
Stays exactly as is
- B.C. Grow, Boost and Bloom, or Pura Vida. Bloom’s additives go in around them.
- Rootech Cloning Gel. Bloom doesn’t make a gel.
- pH Up and pH Down. Bloom doesn’t make pH adjusters.
- Their kelp, MagiCal and SugarDaddy. If they’re working in your room, keep them, or test Bloom’s next to them.
Background, science and sources
Who Technaflora are
Technaflora Plant Products Ltd. is based in Mission, British Columbia. Their About page says they’ve been making nutrients and supplements for about 25 years, starting with B.C. Grow, B.C. Boost and B.C. Bloom.
The range is the B.C. three-part base, the Pura Vida base, eight supplements (Thrive Alive Red and Green, SugarDaddy, Soluble Seaweed Extract, Root 66, MagiCal, B. Seaweed and Awesome Blossoms), Rootech Cloning Gel and pH Up and Down, plus the Recipe for Success sample kit. Their site lists commercial cannabis, commercial agriculture, home cannabis growers and home gardeners as customers. Their homepage says Athena Ag is their exclusive US distributor, and they also sell through an Amazon store.
What each company brings
Technaflora: A three-part mineral base and a plant-material base, a deep kelp line, cal-mag, a sugar and magnesium supplement, root and flower supplements, a cloning gel, pH adjusters and a recipe calculator.
Bloom: one additive for each stage of the crop, seaweed, humic and sea mineral inputs, foliar sprays, and weekly feed charts for soil, coco and hydro. Rates and timing are on every product page.
Cropping Solutions, the other brand under Agricultural Organics, isn’t part of this report.
Mix calculator
Rates as printed on each company’s page (1 US gallon is 3.785 L). Bloom’s rates are per litre of nutrient solution, dosed weekly per its feed charts. Pick a product and your tank size.
Seaweed extracts, on both sidesWell supported
Ali, Ramsubhag and Jayaraman (2021) review seaweed extracts as biostimulants: effects on germination, root growth, nutrient uptake and yield, plus tolerance to drought, salinity, cold, pests and disease.
Why it matters here: kelp is the biggest shared ground between Technaflora and Bloom. The review covers seaweed extracts in general, across many crops; it doesn’t compare kelp species or test either company’s products.
